Not since the days of Misfits of Science and the Greatest American Hero have we seen a show that mixes Superheroes with humor. But this time it’s not just any ol’ humor, it’s that smarmy brit humor.
“No Heroics” is a six-part series about a group of off-duty Superheroes living their lives and hanging out and a supes-only pub where they bitch about every other Superhero that’s more successful than they are.
The main cast is made up of four b-list Superheroes and their nemesis, Excelsor, the most popular Superhero ever.
Alex controls heat and is desperate to be famous for saving the world (or at least someone), but somehow Excelsor always manages to save the day before him.
Sarah can control machines with her voice. However, she would rather steal a pack of cigarettes from a machine than help the ‘normal’ world with her power.
Jenny has super strength and is the third strongest woman in the world, but totally despises being a superhero.
Don can see sixty seconds into the future. However, these days in his retirement, the homosexual Spaniard only uses his flash force to his friend’s advantage.
Devlin is the most successful man in costume and can basically do everything – he’s the Brad Pitt of the superhero world and the bane of Alex’s life.
Unfortunately it seems this show is destined for Britian only and we probably won’t get a look until it hits DVDs (or the internet).
If we’re lucky, the US will steal it and make their own version like they did with the Office.
I could see Michael Scott and Dwight as loser Superheroes.
