The artist calls it “Transformers #1″.

I call it, “Bad Parking Jobs #1″.

I just find it humorous when something takes off on the internet that is actually really ridiculous and completely useless. I mean, I’ve done that before with my hot wheels when I was 5. I could do it again now that I have a drivers license and a bunch of friends with cars but they probably wouldn’t want to waste the time either.

But hey, this is art right?

No, art is painting Optimus Prime on a naked lady or a Mona Lisa styled picture featuring Megatron.

Parking cars is a job that pays minimum wage…not art.

You can see this “art” at this LINK

No matter what kind of evidence is provided for either choice, it all comes down to “insert name sucks”.

Here is a place where everyone can give their own reason on the subject of the ever popular “Who would win in a fight” controversy.

This week…

Gandalf from Lord of The Rings versus Voldemort from Harry Potter

Feel free to list your reasons but keep your personal feelings out of it.

Positive: Voldemort can control snakes, but Gandalf has giant eagles…

Negative: Voldemort is a bad ass, Gandalf is old and feeble…

Nerds…start your fanboy engines

GO!

I may be the last person to know but I just found this Webisode series called “The Guild” and it revolves around the life of a girl who is an avid online gamer ala Everquest/World of Warcraft…at least it seems that way by Episode 5.

The show is kind of a LonelyGirl15 meets that episode of South Park where all the kids are hooked on Warcraft.

I can relate having spent enough hours on WOW to develop a drinking habit and three online relationships with who I hope were chicks.

Below you can find the first webisode and if you’re a former MMO junkie like myself, you should be hooked. Enjoy!

We all know Google for being a simple search engine, which is why we use it. But looks can be deceiving. If you are a geek you probably know it is the most complex search engine, and if you aren’t a geek you probably don’t know most of the advanced search features you could be using to make your life easier. They aren’t too complex to learn, so why not give them a try.

I am not a Google genius, but throughout college here is a list of the Google search features I used. If you feel there are any others that I or anyone else should be using feel free to leave a comment.

Phonebook Listings: Don’t you hate it when you get a call from someone and you don’t know who it is? If you want to be a bit risky feel free and just call back and hope it isn’t and ex-girlfriend. If you want to play it safe you can use Google Phonebook search to find out information on that number.

Ex: Phonebook: 717-555-5555

**The example above may not work because it is not a real number.

Area Codes: I travel quite a bit and usually like to know what geographic region is represented by a specific area code. The only way I know how to do this is by using Google.

Ex: 818

Definitions: You may be smart, but if you aren’t you probably get stumbled by terms all the time. Instead of pulling out a dictionary, just use Google to figure out what they mean.

Ex: define:google bomb

Site Search: Some sites have terrible search features, especially man blogs like Techcrunch.com. Instead of using its site search, I use Google to search those sites.

Ex: site:techcrunch.com google

Specific Phrases: If you are looking for private student loans, you want private student loans and not home loans. To make sure you get relevant results, you can use quotes around the phrase you are looking to search on. That way all the results will be 100% relevant.

Ex: “private student loans“

Exclude Phrases: On the other hand you may be searching for generic apple recipes, but you don’t want any pie recipes. Instead of wasting your time by going through irrelevant results, you can use the minus feature.

Ex: apple recipe -pie

Or Search: I can’t always decide what to cook. Sometimes I feel like making a pizza or spaghetti. If you want search results on either of them you can get that in one search instead of having to do two separate ones.

Ex: pizza OR spaghetti

File Type: I am currently in college and I do a lot of PowerPoints. I usually like to look at similar PowerPoints before I start mine so that I do a good job. An easy way to find them or any other types of files is to do a file search.

Ex: filetype:ppt business

Stock Quotes: A lot of people use Yahoo and other services to look up stock quotes, but why not get all your stock information with ease. Just type in a stock quote in Google and you will instantly get the results you are looking for.

Ex: Aapl

Calculator: For you math whizzes out there you probably don’t need this, but a great way to do some quick math is through Google. If you want to find out how many times 4 goes into 98416 you can use Google.

Ex: 98416 / 4

These are just many of the unique ways I use Google and by no means does this list go over all the features that are in Google search. If you know of any more feel free to drop a comment below.

A lot of people hate being a geek, but there are many advantages of being a geek. The best advantage that comes to mind for me is that we make great fathers. Here’s why:

Video Games We all know kids love video games but those PS3 games can be difficult to beat. The great thing about being a geeky father is that you are great at videos games and you still play them. So when your kids need help passing a level, at least you can help them. Plus the best part for your kids is that they won’t have to ask you to buy the cool video games because you will already have them.

Homework My kids hate homework just like I did when I was a kid. At least now my kids won’t be using the dictionary to do their English homework. Instead they will be using the web. As a geeky dad I taught my kids about online dictionaries, cliff notes, and many other things that helped them get their school work done faster.

Play Time Most fathers don’t spend countless hours playing with their kids, but most geeks do. Whether it’s playing with Legos or just racing remote control cars, a geek is never too old to stop playing with those toys.

Gadgets Kids love all the coolest and greatest gadgets out there, at least being a geeky father you will have all the coolest and greatest stuff. The best thing about this is your kids will have all the latest gadgets before anyone else at their school which allows them to show off to all their friends.

Brain Power There is nothing wrong with being smart, and because you’re smart at least you know your kids won’t be dumb. This ensures that your kids succeed and go to a good college and get high paying jobs. Even more important, they should be smart enough to start their own .com company, sell out for millions and take care of you when you get old.

Science Projects Tons of kids have lame projects each year, but your kids will have the cool science projects. They will be doing stuff like testing out which roofing tiles are the most flame retardant and actually get to mess around with fire. Your kids will be walking away with the top prize or award instead of coming in last place because they have a father who is a geek.

Safety Parents are always worried about their kids safety, but as a geek parent you won’t have to. You’ll monitor what your kids are doing online as well as monitor where they are in the real world through GPS tracking devices. Not only do you have all of this covered but you can also setup precautions so your kids don’t start getting into chat rooms that they shouldn’t be in.

Broken Electronics I always hated it when my toys broke and my dad couldn’t fix them. Now my kids never have to worry about that because I can do anything from repairing their electronics to assembling new ones for them with ease.

Coolness Being a geek father allows you to know what the hippest stuff that your kid can have like Google backpacks, pencil pouches that have built in calculators and thermometers, and last but not least an Apple computer. By you being hip to technology this means your kid is hip to technology due to association thus making your child popular.

Education One of the most important things that you can provide to your kids is a good education without the headaches of racking up massive amounts of student loans. Granted they can learn a lot by going to school, but because you’re a geek they will learn a lot from you. By reading social news sites like Digg or Newsvine on a regular basis you can provide your kids some real world knowledge.

Bonus For those extra geeky parents that have cool cartoons on DVD such as The Simpsons or Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles your kids will get to witness the great moments in life. For those not so geeky parents, it seems that their kids will miss out on the great cartoons.
